Companies invest billions of dollars into marketing research.  They always want to find out more intricate details of a consumer’s relationship with their product.  Whether it’s a new television show or just an existing product line, companies like Disney, Samsung, Sony or others, go to great lengths to find out their ideal audiences.

In the middle of all of this is a new breed of research corporation that relies on you – the survey taker – to determine this information.  For your time?  Usually a little piece of money and, depending on the company, plenty of offers and special deals.
We all have a bit of time to kill every now and then, particularly over holiday breaks and in the evenings. Make sure you’re turning it into cash!

There are a growing number of research companies out there offering rewards for your opinions, however they’re not always as ‘legit’ as they make out. With this in mind, we’ve created a run-down of the trusted survey sites. 

Without further ado, here is the list of the best survey sites…

1. SwagBucks – 

This is a definitely a favorite, because of the wide variety of ways to make extra cash beyond taking surveys. They are also famous for handing out free Swagbucks at random just for being a member. Plus, they give you $5 just for signing up.

You can redeem your points (they’re called SB) for gift cards to a number of popular retailers, including Amazon.com.

2. Inbox Dollars –  

You can make easy money with Inbox Dollars because they too offer a wide variety of ways to earn extra money. You can make money even by reading emails which can come in handy if you get tired of taking surveys. You can sign up for trial offers to earn money on this site and they also offer serval short,daily surveys that you can take. 

3. My Survey –  

You can earn points for every survey you take and you can redeem said earned points for cash prizes. Every 1000 points equals to $10. 

Nobody wants a convoluted sign-up process with a difficult way to differentiate between paying surveys and junk offers.  This is where My Survey gets it right. Light on the graphics and minimalist design and heavy on the details where it matters – rewards. 

This site succeeds where many other fail in simply letting the survey taker know exactly what’s going to pay out the best and soonest.  The problem?  The higher end surveys run out surprisingly quickly so you have to stay really on top of new offers.

                             4. Ipsos Panel – 

The Ipsos Panel is one of the only legitimate paid survey apps out there (they’re the same company that does most of the political polling during elections).
I’ve heard some of the top-end surveys can pay up to $95, but those are rare and can take awhile to complete. Most surveys pay a buck or two and only take 10-15 minutes. Also, Ipsos rewards you with points which can then be redeemed for Paypal or gift cards to Amazon, iTunes, etc. (example: 1000 points can be redeemed for $10 Paypal).

5. Toluna – 

How much is your opinion worth?  If it’s through Toluna, roughly $1.50 per survey.  You can earn between 3,000 and 6,000 points per survey. Of course, it would be awesome if they said that right up front but 90,000 reward points to get a $30 PayPal e-certificate should be the rough equivalent. But you do however get to test products and even keep them.Where Toluna gets it right is in terms of accessibility.  They spared no expense designing apps for both the Android and Apple mobile devices.  Why this is actually a great thing is it means pretty much if you have an internet connection and free time – you can be earning points towards money.

6. Global Test Market –

Global Test Market is a decent Well know US survey site. 
You can earn an average amount of $1.50 per survey. and surveys can take around 15 minutes to complete. Their practices are not any more or less shady or reputable than almost any online venue – survey or otherwise.  Just like Facebook, when you identify yourself accurately with Global Test Market, you can expect them to use that information in any way possible to make a penny.  The great news is they inform you and ask for consent first.

7. Pinecone Research –  

They have a good amount of surveys, but what’s unique about this company is that you get paid cash after every survey you take. There’s no minimum to cash-out (pays via Paypal).The surveys pay $3 for each one completed and payment is made with in 3-4 business days. 

8. Harris Poll Online – 

This is another favorite because it’s run by the Nielsen company (so you know they’re legitimate). They’re also famous for contacting survey panelists for local focus groups in their area.

9. Springboard Panel – 

As part of the Springboard Panel, you get to give feedback on new ideas and test new products for extra cash. They reward you with points that you can use towards cash or gift cards.Plus, once you join the site, you’ll be entered to win a $1,000 and can earn additional entries for each survey you complete.

10. MintVine – 

Take surveys worth between 150 to 300 points and once you’ve reached 1000 points in your account, you can redeem for a $10 cash payment.Since this one has really low threshold for payment, you should be eligible for your first cash-out within a couple of weeks.

11. IPoll – 

Poll used to be called Survey Heads and are a US based company. You can earn between 25ct and $2 per survey. Surveys can take you around 15 minutes to complete. The only downside is that the amount of surveys available tend to be on the downside. 

12. Opinion Place – 

Now known as Survey Spree, this conglomerate of survey and marketing research claims to pay out up to $5 per survey.  Sounds good but survey taker beware – some conditions are not explicitly listed out on their website and while signing up for SurveySpree will mean sharing your information with third parties, there’s no lack of shuffling of responsibilities when it comes time to hand out prizes.
In terms of rewards, they offer a decent return ratio on rewards points to dollars.  Obviously, depending on legality for different nations and places, they can’t pay out directly in cash.  At least it appears this is an easy site to regularly earn some extra money on the side.

13. Opinion Outpost – 

There’s been a lot of talk that the Opinion Outpost is too good to be true.  Plenty of people sign up to take surveys for cash with the hopes it will equate to decent winnings.  Opinion Outpost does a decent enough job trying to provide just that.
In terms of what they do that the competition doesn’t?  Arguably nothing.  They’re reliable and accessible – that’s where they make their points.  And the rewards systems they have worked out isn’t bad at all.

13. Vindale Research – 

Easily one of the most reputable survey companies on the market, Vindale Research has made a big name for themselves.  Accessible for a first time user and not too cluttered with needless offers and unintentional subscriptions – this is honestly one of the best survey companies to make a few extra bucks with.
And a few extra bucks it truly is.  One of the little known things about many of these survey companies is while you will be paid for your time, the amount of time needed to get that money may not always be worth it.
